The Luminox Watch Company was founded in 1989 when watchmaker Barry Cohen realized he could combine a Swiss self-powered illumination system with watches. The result was Luminox watches, which are easy to read in all lighting conditions. Luminox started off with one basic model and gradually added more over time, including sports models. The dive model was created in 1993 when a U.S. Navy SEAL procurement officer contacted Cohen and explained a need for use of the Luminox watches technology on night missions.
The dive model was engineered to meet the rigorous specifications of the SEAL team. Luminox watches has expanded the collection to include various dial colors and has continued to improve the technology of the dive watch. There is now an entire line of Luminox watches in many different styles for all sorts of people.
