We currently have several watches in our repair department that are very special. Because we’ve been in business for so many years, we have experience with many watch brands and we can perform almost any repair.
The Rolex Precision
This Rolex Precision rectangular cased watch was handed down from father to son, and is treasured by its current owner, a gentleman in real estate. He makes sure to wear this special timepiece when signing contracts for a new project. We are now restoring this watch so it will be ready to wear when he walks his daughter down the aisle in September.
Our repair take-in process is more than just filling out a receipt … we want to hear the story of the watch, discuss the current condition, and reach an agreement on the goal of the repair.
As you can see in the photo, the dial has some discoloration and the bracelet is an attachment that was added later. The customer explained he added the gold bracelet while on a trip to Italy with his wife shortly after his father passed away.
After some discussion, we decided to leave the original markings intact, and not refinish the dial. The watch was running but losing a little time, so we assured our customer that our vintage watchmaker can clean, oil, and adjust the movement for better time-keeping as well as polish the case and bracelet. We can’t wait to see the restored timepiece!
The Breitling Chronograph
The Breitling square button Chronograph was purchased in 1967, and was also recently handed down from father to son. By photographing the watch and emailing these photos to the Breitling service center, we were able to get confirmation they could repair the watch before we shipped it to them.
Digital photos and email are very helpful in confirming the repair and estimate without the risk of shipping. This timepiece is now at the Breitling service center.
When it comes to repair and restoration, we take pride in slowing the process, talking with our customers, and getting their story. This not only creates trust with our customers, it allows us to exceed their expectations. In some cases, a watch can best be serviced by the brand’s service center. When they cannot, we can help source vintage watchmakers around the country to best restore the timepiece to its original glory.
Wearing a timepiece that has been handed down is like driving a vintage car. It’s a salute to the past, a current classic and a gift for future generations. The customers that own these watches love their timepieces, and we take great pride and pleasure in being a part of the restoration process.
