September is the right time to get those heirloom pieces out of the jewelry box and into our store for remodeling and refurbishing. It may be a piece you want to wear again, or it may be something special you’d like to give as a gift.
Some pieces simply need a good cleaning and polishing, or a simple solder. Worn rings may need new prongs, new shanks and sizing. No matter the piece, we can help you analyze the unique needs of you and your jewelry – in fact, you may decide to wear these beauties instead of gifting them! No judgment here.
These are a few pieces we’re currently working on and I’ve included photos so you can see what we’re doing.
This burnished yellow gold “V” band was originally purchased in the 1970’s. It was a wedding set with a diamond on top. We reset the diamond, removed the prongs that held it, refinished the gold, and resized it.
The next photo shows three pieces made from a 1990’s wedding set. We reset the center diamond into a modern pendant. As with the yellow gold ring, we took off the old center stone setting, repaired the platinum, separated the two rings and refinished them. Now, we have a diamond necklace for mom and stack rings for the girls – both trendy and easily worn every day.
We also enjoy giving new life to an old timepiece. The last photo shows a new rubber strap to update a vintage specialty dive watch. The strap fits the case and original buckle perfectly making this watch look very current. This is a great way to modernize an older watch to present to the next generation. It’s also a wonderful way to update your old watch when you buy a new one.
As you can imagine, the holidays bring lots of repairs into our stores, so now’s the time to find those heirloom pieces and get them ready for December. If you have any questions, please feel free to call any of our locations or simply stop by.
