Relationships that have stood the test of time are a treasure in my life, and I am fortunate enough to have them with our customers and our jewelers. I’ve worked with a Fort Worth jewelry collector for decades, and she is someone that loves a good remodel - at her home and in her jewelry box.
Our latest collaboration is an update of gem-quality 15MM lapis beads along with earrings set in yellow gold from the 1980’s. A new earring purchase with blue sapphires, diamonds, and green emerald bead tassels was the impetus to combine all the items into a new, updated necklace.
I loved this blue/green color combination and it reminded me of vintage David Webb. I searched through old photos of Webb pieces and found a tiered diamond centerpiece style that became the inspiration for our new necklace. Then the search was on for emeralds large enough to balance the size of the lapis beads, and with color rich enough to match the emerald earrings tassels.
Another long-term relationship with a New York gem dealer resulted in a pear shape emerald for the top of the centerpiece, and a matching 20-carat oval cabochon emerald for the center.
I texted a quick sketch for approval, then gave it to our jeweler to start his CAD design process. He created some beautiful details in the deco tiered diamond centerpiece with beautiful custom grills for the sides and back, as well as a hidden hinge to make the necklace lay perfectly on the neck.
We’re over the moon with this finished necklace, and our customer is too! This remodel transformed a dated suite into a one-of-a-kind statement necklace, and one that will definitely get the holiday party started. In our customer’s words, “More people need to remake their old jewelry. It’s really fun!”
