As I've mentioned before, working with our customers and their family heirlooms is one of my favorite parts of this business. Brenda's mom passed away several years ago, and before she passed, she gave each of the girls in her family one piece of jewelry.
Brenda received one of her mother's rings in yellow gold with baguettes and rounds surrounding a nice diamond center stone. Brenda carefully kept this sweet memory in her jewelry box - looking at it often - but not wearing it because the ring is yellow gold, and she mainly wears white gold.
Brenda and her husband brought me this project in January with the challenge that we use all the diamonds and not add any more. The six baguettes made this particularly difficult and we originally thought about designing a bracelet. But as the design process began, we realized a necklace was the better option.
Some curved bar necklaces caught Brenda’s eye, and the attached drawing shows the first design. We all loved it but it only used two baguettes! So back to the drawing board to reconfigure this piece using all the stones.
The finished necklace is really beautiful, and I think the diamonds look even bigger. It has a wonderful sophistication in white gold which suits Brenda. And like her mother, it’s truly one of a kind!
I’d like to thank Brenda for entrusting Haltom’s with this very special redesign of a cherished heirloom. Is it time to redesign a special piece of jewelry that’s been passed down in your family? Bring it by Haltom’s and let’s discuss the possibilities.
