May is here and that means it’s time for patio parties and margaritas! Baccarat’s boxed set of 4 Symphony tumblers are ideal for margaritas, and I spent a fun Sunday afternoon perfecting my recipe.
I took notes from several recipes through the years and combined them to make a fresh, tart and not-too-sweet margarita. My recipe is below and they always taste better in Baccarat crystal!
L. A. Miller’s Margaritas
1 cup cold silver tequila
1 cup fresh lime juice
¾ cup Grand Marnier
¾ cup cold water
¼ cup fresh orange juice
Lime wheels for garnish
Mix together in a pitcher and keep in the fridge until time to pour over ice.
Sampling the tequila put me in the mood for one of my favorite simple recipes – Tequila Shrimp – perfect for a small plate on the patio!
L.A. Miller’s Tequila Shrimp
1 lb frozen peeled and deveined shrimp, thawed
2 T olive oil
4 cloves of garlic, minced
¼ cup chopped cilantro
1/3 cup tequila
Heat olive oil and add garlic, stirring to quickly sizzle but not brown. Quickly add the shrimp and continue to stir until the shrimp just begins to turn pink. With the heat on medium high, add the tequila and simmer only a few minutes. Salt and pepper to taste, top with fresh cilantro and serve.
As we welcome May, cheers to friends and family, and patio parties!
