At Haltom’s, we take great pride in our ability to repair and remodel jewelry. In this instance, a customer brought in a gorgeous silver and turquoise squash blossom necklace. It had broken, beads were lost, and some of the pieces were bent and tarnished. Haltom’s to the rescue!
We pieced together the necklace to determine the original layout, and counted about 50 missing beads. The original beads were handmade and we could not match those exactly, so we came up with a plan. We decided to mix-in the new beads with the old ones - hiding some of the new ones behind the blossom sections and using more on the back of the necklace.
Our customer approved and we ordered the new beads, polished all the original pieces, added a new chain for strength, and assembled. This vintage necklace kept its original design and charm, but with new and stronger sections.
This family heirloom looks fabulous, and we did this restoration for under $400.00. Our customer is so pleased to wear this once again, and she looks forward to passing it on to the next generation.
