At Haltom’s, we continue to see jewelry box treasures brought in for remodels. We recently completed three pieces that are very special …
- We took the diamonds from a late grandmother’s ring to make a sentimental gift for the bride-to-be. We created a beautiful diamond pendant in yellow gold to match her engagement ring, and she’ll wear it on her wedding day. Although the grandmother and father of the bride are no longer with us, their special gift will be treasured.
- This is such a great story … a grandmother gave this ring to her best friend to hold for her granddaughter until she grew up. We took the grass green aventurine stone and the diamonds out of the ring, and made a contemporary yellow gold pendant. Now this granddaughter will always have her special grandma with her.
- A pair of opal drop earrings was found in a jewelry box. The daughter remembers her dad traveling quite a bit on business. He bought these in Australia in the 1970s’ as a gift for her late mother. We were afraid to take the gems out of the bezel settings, so we used them to create a dangle earring. We set the opals horizontally with gold, diamonds and turquoise to combine them into a unique pair of earrings.
You probably know by now that I love a jewelry remodel. I particularly enjoy the stories behind the jewelry, and appreciate that our customers trust us with their heirlooms. If you have a special piece that could use an update, please feel free to stop by.
