Max Duggan, former TCU quarterback and Davey O’Brien Award winner, recently stopped by Haltom’s. During his visit, we were thrilled to make a donation to his designated charity – the American Heart Association’s Fort Worth Venus Elementary Kids Heart Challenge.
Max was born with a heart condition called Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome, a condition where an extra electrical pathway in the heart causes a rapid heartbeat. It was detected in 2020 during a Covid-19 screening. It turns out there is a young boy at Venus Elementary, Eli, who has the same rare heart condition.
After numerous appointments, medication, ER visits and surgery, Eli is doing great! He’s attending school and playing sports like other 2nd graders. Max’s return visit to Fort Worth was brief, and he had to leave for Los Angeles to prepare for the NFL Draft. Although these two haven’t met, we believe their paths will cross sooner rather than later.
We wish Max and Eli healthy hearts and happy futures!
